National Capacity Development for Implementing Rio Conventions through Environmental Governance
Whats the Project about?
The project’s objective is to enhance the capacity of relevant policy and institutional stakeholders to enable compliance with the three Rio Conventions and other MEAs. This project targets and trains government staff at the local, regional, and national levels on the specific interpretation of Rio Convention provisions as they apply to their respective roles and responsibilities to implement associated development policies.
Three components were developed. Component 1 focuses on developing institutional capacities for management of global environment, component 2 works on mainstreaming global environmental conventions into human resource development, and, component 3 raises awareness of the linkages between the Rio Conventions and sustainable development.
