Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Rio Conventions in KhulnaFeb 15, 2018
A knowledge sharing workshop on Rio Conventions was held in Khulna on 15 February, jointly organized by the Department of Environment (DoE), Khulna and UNDP, under its project called ‘National Capacity Development for Implementing Rio Conventions through Environmental Governance’.
Mr. Lokman Hossain Miah, Divisional Commissioner, Khulna was the chief guest while Mr. Hamidul Haque Khan, Director, DoE Khulna was the chair of the event.
Mr. Md. Ziaul Haque, Director, DoE and NPD, Rio Project presented the keynote paper and Mr. Arif Md. Faisal, Programme Specialist, UNDP attended the event as the special guest.

Delivering the presentations on the obligations of Rio Conventions and status of implementation in Bangladesh, Mr. Md. Ziaul Haque, said that knowledge building and improved awareness played a major role in ensuring sustainable environment. Mr. Haque stressed on the awareness building on Rio Conventions so that the future generation can live in healthy environment. Mr. AS Moniruzzaman Khan, Project Coordinator, Rio Project presented the best practices and innovations for mainstreaming the Rio Conventions in Bangladesh.
