Programme Manager

Nasim is a forester by education and profession. He obtained Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry  (1992-1998) from Chittagong University, Bangladesh and Mater of Environmental Studies  degree (2001-2003) from Dalhousie University, Canada. Before going to higher study, he worked for about 2 years in a consulting  firm. After return to the country, he worked (2004-2009) as Ecological and Social Monitoring Specialist in two projects of Forest Department funded by USAID implemented by International Resources Group (IRG). Subsequently, he worked with IUCN Bangladesh Country Office for six (6) years (2010-2015). As Senior Programme Officer, he had been developing and managing biodiversity, forestry and climate change portfolio to support government priority projects with financial support from government itself, and development partners like UNDP, World Bank, European Union, GTI/SI, DFID, and DANIDA.

Nasim joined  the UN-REDD Bangladesh National Programme in December 2015. 


REDD+ Governance Activity Coordinator

Sayeed Mahmud Riadh has 19 years of experience in the field of Natural Resources Management (NRM), focusing on natural resources, forestry and protected areas with a significant focus on climate change adaptation and mitigation, biodiversity conservation, forest governance, sustainable livelihoods  and participatory forest conservation and management . Climate change adaptation and mitigation work includes community based climate change adaptation project designing and implementation as well as using remote sensing data for carbon estimation and forest carbon financing through REDD+. Mr. Riadh obtained Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, Chittagong University, Bangladesh and holds M.Sc. in GIS and Remote Sensing for NRM, from the University of Twente, the Netherlands and also a Masters degree in Development Studies from BRAC University , Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was awarded  NUFFIC fellowship in 2009 for pursuing his M.Sc. in the Netherlands. Before joining to the UN-REDD Bangladesh National Programme he worked for IUCN Bangladesh Country office and led a SDC funded project of MoEF (Ministry of Environment and Forests ) titled Community Based Sustainable management of Tanguar Haor Project. As a project manager he provided managerial and technical support to the project. Prior to IUCN Mr. Riadh worked for USAID’s Integrated Protected Area Co-Management (IPAC) Project  as a Governance Specialist.  He is experienced in working with both Govt. and Non-Government Organizations in different positions.

Riadh joined  the UN-REDD Bangladesh National Programme in January 2016.


Programme Support Officer

Kaumal is an admin and finance guy by education and profession. He obtained Master of Commerce degree in Accounting (1993-1995) from Azam Khan Government Commerce College under National University, Bangladesh and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree (2007-2008) from Stamford University of Bangladesh. He also completed LLB degree in the year 2016 under National University and active member of Khulna Bar council since 2000. He has 16+ years job experience in multi-sectoral and cross-cultural environment for UNDP, Government of Bangladesh and other private agencies. Mr. Kaumal experiences in development sector shows that he has accomplished a wide range of tasks and achieved considerable success in admin, financial management, audit, procurement, Project Completion Report (PCR) and Project closure activities of both GoB and UNDP NIM/DIM modality programme. He has greater experience in dealing with project extension process and revision of TPP/DPP. Further to that, he is a self‑starter as well as an instinctive learner that help him picking up required skills in dealing with different situation.

Kaumal joined UN-REDD Bangladesh National Programme in March 2016.


Communications Officer

Santu Das comes with a 12 years long professional journey that incorporates practical experiences in different streams e.g. Communications for Development (C4D), Project Management, Advocacy & PR, Stakeholder Management, Government Liaison, Mass Awareness  & Social Behavior Change Communications (SBCC), International Press & Media Journalism, Branding & Marketing, Public Information Management, Creative & Performative Arts and Teaching etc. He has served under series of reputed International Development Organizations- WaterAid International, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Plan International, World Bank South Asia Regional programme “Affiliated Networking for Social Accountability-South Asian Region (ANSA-SAR)” Institute of Governance Studies, BRAC University; International & National Press/ Electronic Media: ATN News Ltd.; Whatson Worldwide UK, The Daily ProthomAlo; International Advertising Agency: BBDO Worldwide;  MNCs: Grameenphone Ltd. and Universities.

Santu’s academic portfolio entails professional post graduate degrees on International Relations from University of Dhaka then Mass Communication & Cross Media Journalism from BRAC University along with the BA (Hons.) & MA in English Literature with concentration in Media, Film, Communications and Cultural Studies from Jahangirnagar University. He has successfully carried out International Development Missions in the developing countries of South Asia and East Africa.

Santu joined the UN-REDD Bangladesh National Programme in December 2015.

Programme Secretary

Mohammad Sahab Uddin is an Administration and Management person by education and profession. He obtained Bachelor of Social Science and Master degree from Bangladesh National University. He also obtained Bachelor of Law (LL, B) degree and is a member of Bangladesh Bar Council. He started his professional career as an Administrative Officer at BKSP in 1999. He has 17 years of professional experience in voluminous positions of numerous development program and projects including UNDP, The Global Fund to fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) financed National Tuberculosis Control Program in Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; World Bank's Strengthening Public Expenditure Management Program (SPEMP) and its Deeping Mid-term Budget Framework (DMTBF)under Ministry of Finance; World Bank, IFAD financed National Agricultural Technology Project under Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock; World Bank, CIDA, DANIDA funded Bangladesh Legal and Judicial Capacity Building Project under Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

Uddin joined the UN-REDD Bangladesh National Programme in December 2015.


Administrative Assistant

James is an administration and finance person by education and profession. He has obtained Bachelor of commerce and Masters of Management from National University Bangladesh. He has also a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Victoria University of Bangladesh. He started his carrier as Office Manager in an NGO since 1997. He worked two years as Secretary as an accountant in International NGO after that  he worked in the World Vision of Bangladesh as a Finance Officer. He has experience working with International donor agencies as an Office Manager. He worked about 13 years in the World Health Organization in Divisional Office and Country Office in different positions.  

James joined the UN-REDD Bangladesh National Programme in December 2015.
