What We Do?
The Support to Sustainable and Inclusive Planning (SSIP) project is funded by the UNDP and implemented by the General Economic Division (GED) of the Planning Commission. It is the successor of two projects: ‘Support to Monitoring the PRS and MDGs’ and ‘Poverty, Environment and Climate Mainstreaming (PECM)’. The main objective of the project is to strengthen policy responses and technical capacity, particularly in the GEDand other stakeholders [relevant central government agencies i.e. Finance Division (FD), Bangladesh Bank (BB), Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS)].The project has three distinct components. These are:
- Building of Institutional and Economic Policy Analysis Capacity
- Establishment of Inclusive and Environmentally Sustainable Planning processes
- Delivery of MDG achievement and Post MDG framework
This is first, to design and implement pro-poor economic policies; secondly, to strengthen capacity for sustainable and inclusive planning; and thirdly, to monitor the MDGs and develop the post 2015 framework. Through these efforts, the project seeks to secure more pro-poor, inclusive and environmentally sustainable development.
In line with the project objectives, the SSIP has achieved remarkable results by accomplishing a number of activities in the areas of policy planning, capacity development of GoB officials and support to attaining global goals. Some of the activities are currently in progress. The project is keen to achieve intended results which might require some additional time beyond its project period.
