ICT can assist case management systems
On Thursday, June 20, 2013, an ICT training certificate award ceremony was held at Kishoregonj District Judge Court, organized by the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and UNDP under the Judicial Strengthening Project (JUST). A total of 40 judicial officials including the district and sessions judge and other judges, court officials received the certificates after completion of 15 days of training. The objective of the training was to provide a clear understanding of computer applications to enhance the basic computer skills of the pilot district courts officials who were provided with ICT equipment earlier.
Honorable Chief Justice of Bangladesh Justice Md. Muzammel Hossain graced the occasion as chief guest. In his speech, Hon'ble Chief Justice emphasized on the significance of the ICT training and said, `ICT skills attained through these training programs can change the overall case management mechanism in Bangladesh like USA and Canada.` CJ also stressed the use of ICT skills and equipment by the judges to become less dependent to their assistance. He commented that JUST project is ready to provide all technical support in terms of enhancing ICT knowledge and thanked UNDP for initiating such a timely and much coveted step in this regard.
Mr. S M Kuddus Zaman, Special Officer (District Judge) and National Project Directorof JUST moderated the programme while Capacity Building Analyst of JUST Mr. Hamidul H Khan facilitated the event providing key technical inputs.
The specific objectives of the training was to help the court staff to have a better use of computer in their daily work, enhance the capacity to work within networking environment and make them able to browse information from the web including use of critical communication. Prior to the programme HCJ laid the foundation stone of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court building of Kishoreganj district near court premise and JUST project provided technical assistance in facilitating the event.
