Adult literacy and life skill programs held

Two-day long refresher course on Adult Literacy and Life Skill Program Facilitation in each district of Chittagong Hill Tracts was conducted from 12 to 19 July by the Education Cluster of CHTDF with technical support from UNESCO.

Currently literacy and numeracy learning for adults in 30 Community Learning Centers (CLCs) across the 12 upazilas of CHT are running with approximately 900 learners. All 30 Facilitators along with the espective 8 Training Officers, 13 Education Field Supervisors, all Monitoring Officers and all Education Officers of HDCs participated in the training. On the first day, facilitators shared their experiences and provided feedback on the Chetona-1 primer which is being followed in the CLCs as learning tool.
 
Afterwards, Chetona-2 primer was presented and its teaching methods were demonstrated to them. In the second day of training following sessions - mock demonstration by the Facilitators, method of supporting the weaker learners and managing the advanced learners, M&E format fill up, administering the final assessment  of the Chetona-1 learners achievement, administering the post literacy activity and lastly review of the training were conducted.
 
From UNESCO, Shereen Akhter and Shahidul Islam facilitated all the 3 Refresher Training. Shukheswar Chakma, PO-MLE and Kabir Ahmad, M&E Expert also contributed in the training. In between the trainings, UNESCO professionals also met with Education Cluster Leader, Shwe Aung Prue, and briefed on the progress of the program and their finding of the field visits.
