BRESL workshop held

BRESL organized a day long training workshop titled “Policy Dialogue and Mass Awareness about Energy Efficient BRESL Products for Manufacturers, Importers, Traders and Consumers” on 7 September at Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry. More than one hundred thirty participants from Chittagong were present at the workshop.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Prof., Computer Science & Engineering and Dean, Faculty of Electrical & Computer Engineering, CUET. He expressed his gratitude to the manufacturers and said that the BRESL project is a very vital project for Bangladesh in the energy saving sector and he is hopeful for its better implementation.

Mr. Md. Abdul Matin, National Project Director, BRESL, informed the manufacturers about Energy Star Label Certificates. He explained how to attain Energy Star Label Certificates from BSTI in a hassle free and affordable manner. He also said the Government is finalizing the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Rules 2013 through the SERDA Act.

As a consequence after 2016 no manufacturers and importers will be able to produce, import and market CFL, EB, Electric Fan, E. Motor, Air Conditioners and Refrigerators without EE Energy Star Label Certificates. Mr. Shahjahan Chowdhury, Project Manager, BRESL also spoke at the event.

After the training workshop the BRESL Team visited ASIA Fan Company at Bibirhat, Chittagong and advised them to apply for Energy Star Label Certificate from BSTI.
