JUST holds second PIC meeting

The second project implementation committee (PIC) meeting of the Judicial Strengthening Project (JUST) was held on 25 September 2013 in the Supreme Court to support and formulate high quality implementation strategy in order to attain Project mandates. Representatives of different Ministries of the Government of Bangladesh attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by the National Project Director of the Project, Mr. SM Kuddus Zaman.

In the meeting, the participants were updated on the achievements of programme and project delivery status in line with the implementation strategy jointly by the National Project Director and Chief Technical Advisor.

The members particularly expressed their deep satisfaction with the success in providing high-level training and awareness building among the judges, lawyers and other stakeholders on mediation resulted in reducing case backlogs in family courts. The National Project Director said significant case backlogs have been reduced according to the data received last month from Dhaka District Court due to the use of mediation and the effective functioning of the Case Management Committee.
