The incorporation of ICT in Court system has significantly improved the overall service delivery at the Court. Due to the intervention of JUST, about 86 per cent of judges in the Court premises are now using ICT tools to prepare verdicts and provide inputs into cause list compared to just 20 per cent in 2012.

JUST has developed a soft ware on Cause-list which is also oriented to the judges and court staff. The cause list of the Supreme Court and three pilot District Courts of JUST is regularly updated now, helping litigants, lawyers and all concerned to know under which Court their case is and the dates. It also helps the judges monitor the performance of their fellow judges.

In this effort, JUST provided ICT training to 40 Judges and Core Officials of the Dhaka Judge Court, including 30 Judges. After completion of the 12 days long training session on March 10, 2014, the judges were awarded certificates at a ceremony attended by Justice Md. Muzammel Hossain, Honourable Chief Justice of Bangladesh, as the chief guest. The training provided the judges with knowledge on case file management, PowerPoint presentation, incorporation of case data into the cause list, internet use along with basic computer and hardware applications.

After attending the training, Mr. Shahriar Kabir, Joint District Judge, admits, ‘I prepare the verdict by myself without the help of a computer operator thus avoiding leakage of information. This is also useful in speedy case management system as even while traveling I can prepare a verdict through data in cause list with my laptop provided by JUST. It also broadens the judges’ knowledge as we can review judicial data from the website.’

The objective of this Basic ICT Training was to let the trainee have a clear understanding of computer applications and enhance basic computer skills in their everyday life.

Earlier, the Chief Justice also inaugurated PA system in the Conference Room of the Dhaka Judge Court and then met with the judges, magistrate of the court to discuss the strategy for reducing backlog of Cases as per the project mandate.
