Access to Information (a2i) programme honored with ‘Public Administration Award 2016’

Sheikh Hasina, the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, honored the Access to Information (a2i) programme with the prestigious ‘Public Administration Award 2016’ for its innovative initiatives in leveraging ICTs in public service delivery. Stationed at the Prime Minister’s Office, the Access to Information (a2i) programme is supported by UNDP and USAID.

On behalf of A2i, the Project Director of Access to Information (a2i) programme and Director-General (Administration) of Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Kabir Bin Anwar received the award from honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 23 July in Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

For the first time in Bangladesh, The Ministry of Public Administration has taken the initiative to recognize the public servants for their innovative initiatives and excellence at personal and institutional level. A2i has been awarded for its great achievement in institutional technical categories.

This is worth mentioning that, Bangladesh won the world’s most prestigious award for excellence in information technology - the “World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)” award in three consecutive years for the innovative initiatives of Access to Information (a2i) Programme under the Prime Minister’s Office.

Deputy Country Director of UNDP Bangladesh Mr. Nick Beresford, A2i Programme’s Policy Advisor Mr. Anir Chowdhury, People’s perspective specialist Mr. Naimuzzaman Mukta, Capacity Development Specialist Mr. Manik Mahmud, Innovation Director Mr. Mustafizur Rahman and E-service Director Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan were present at the award giving ceremony.
