Jan 24, 2018

Inclusive Budgeting and Financing for Climate Resilience (IBFCR) project in collaboration with the Finance Division organized a two-day training programme on ‘Budget Call Circular 1: Climate Change’ on 21-22 January at the Institute of Public Finance. Around 175 government officials from Finance Division and 20-line ministries, departments attended the programme to gather insights on managing climate change in Bangladesh and skills on embedding climate dimension in the Ministry Budget Framework (MBF) following the guidelines set out in recently issued Budget Call Circular 1 by the Finance Division) through hands-on training.

Mr. Abdur Rouf Talukder, Additional Secretary, Budget and Macroeconomic Wing of Finance Division and the National Project Director of IBFCR project inaugurated the event highlighting its importance for the participants. Along with him, Mr. Ranjit Kumar Chakraborty, Project Manager of IBFCR project and Mr. Habibur Rahman, Joint Secretary, Budget Wing-1 of Finance Division also spoke on the occasion.

Conducted by the experts from PMTC and UNDP, the training sessions were highly interactive and the participants’ feedback was very positive. One of the biggest successes of the IBFCR project in 2017 was to track climate expenditure for the first time in the Climate Budget Report and include climate dimension in the Budget Call Circular 1 of Finance Division for FY 2018-19.
