ERD started dialogue with eminent persons with support from UNDP

Economic Relations Division (ERD) of the Ministry of Finance started dialogue with the eminent persons with the assistance of UNDP supported Knowledge for Development Management (K4DM) Project. The main objective of this initiative is to establish knowledge partnership with the eminent persons and engaging them in addressing development challenges and enhancing quality of decision making within the GoB organizations through debates and dialogues.  ERD considers the Eminent Persons Group as think tank and will continue dialogues in close collaboration with respective line ministries to identify emerging development and policy challenges and scope for development interventions. A total of 35 renowned experts from different disciplines consented to join the group.

Inaugural meeting of this Eminent Persons Group was held on 4 June 2017 in Dhaka with Kazi Shofiqul Azam, Secretary of Economic Relations Division in the chair. Ms. Shamima Nargis, Additional Secretary of ERD welcomed the eminent persons and Mr. Sudipto Mukerjee, UNDP Country Director in Bangladesh made complimentary remarks in the meeting.

In the first meeting the eminent persons provided feedback on draft Terms of Reference (ToR) and shared their ideas on formation of thematic sub groups. They appreciated ERD initiative for consultation and expressed commitment to contribute in this process.
