Internships introduced for students at Law Department, University of Dhaka

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs introduced six-week internships for the students at Law Department, University of Dhaka, in order to gain practical experience on Legal Aid.

The 1st batch, comprising of five students, completed in November 2017.  During this time, the students got the opportunity to learn about Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Dhaka Metropolitan Court. They have also learnt, how to provide advice on legal aid to the clients through the Helpline (16430), launched by NLASO with support from UNDP and to the clients in Dhaka Labour Court Cell.


After the successful completion of the internship programme, a certificate giving ceremony was organized on 12 December for the students. Md. Zafrul Hasan​ Director, National Legal Aid Services handed over the certificates, where Marina Shawkat Ali, Project Officer-Responsive Justice, UNDP was present. While handing over the certificates, Md. Zafrul Hasan said, “The internship progamme will build the confidence of the students to join in the legal aid work for the citizens in future.”
