Local Government Initiative on Climate change, known briefly as LoGIC project (UNCDF LoCAL phase II) is a mechanism that directs resources to local governments and supports them in identifying and acting on locally identified needs.

The LoGIC project funded by the Swedish Development agency (SIDA), European Union (EU), UNCDF and UNDP works with the local government to use a Performance Based Climate Resilience Grant to channel additional resources and support locally identified requirements of the communities with technical support and capacity building.

LoGIC project adopted an innovative ‘smart boat scheme’ which meant using a co-finance mechanism to upgrade the boats to include ten equipment such as lifejackets, buoy, waterproof dual-band radio, heavy-duty torchlight (for night rescue), a small mirror (for day rescue), heavy-duty strobe light (for positioning signal), first aid kit, compass and solar panels to enable the usage of a portable mini water filter to make the sea saltwater de-salinized for drinking.

LoGIC has played a significant role for this fishing community in saving lives and building climate change resilience by working with the community and local government institutions.
