Having knowledge of effective working plan and monitoring process of project officials is essential to bring out productive results of a project, government officials of the Economic Relations Division stressed that in a training programme organized by ERD with support from UNDP’s Knowledge for Development Management (K4DM) project.
32 officials from all wings of the division, participated in the training on ‘Project Planning and Management’ held on 20 December 2018 at the Economic Relations Division.
“Since we need to think out of the box, effective working plan and monitoring is very important for fruitful result of a project. Negotiation and fiscal management skill is imperative for ERD Officials,” the ERD secretary, Monowar Ahmed, told the participants at the inaugural session as the chief guest.
The training, held in line with UNDP Bangladesh’s commitment to democratic governance, aimed to increase knowledge of the participants on Project Planning and Management system and process.
The ERD secretary also facilitated a short Question and Answer session with a view to learn about the participant’s knowledge and interest on Project Planning and Management Issues.
The facilitator from his own working experiences on this issue for a long time, elaborated different definitions of Planning, Planning & Forecasting concept and process of Planning, Characteristics of Planning, Policy, Policy, Plan & Project, Project Cycle, Classification of project, Project appraisal process, Project Financing, and the structure of Planning Commission in Bangladesh.
Through a debate and interactive session, the participants developed a common understanding.
The training course was also facilitated by M. A. Akher, Deputy Chief and deputy Project Director, Economic Relations Division and Fakrul Ahsan, Chief Technical Adviser, Engaging with Institutions (EI); IP Project, UNDP.
In their sessions, Steps and Stages of Project Approval procedure, Classification of Project and Development Planning/Project Planning and their management in Bangladesh were covered.
