Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday unveiled the English version of the Standing Orders on Disaster (SOD) 2019.
The prime minister was the chief guest at the online book launch, organised by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief to observe the International Day for Disaster Reduction.
SOD, the central guiding document of Bangladesh, was prepared in 2019 in Bengali with the technical support of National Resilience Programme: DDM part of UNDP. Later it has been translated in English.
The book contains the disaster related role and functions of all the actors ranging from the Prime Minister to an elected member of Union Council.
The SOD complies with the commitment pledged towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Sendai Framework for Disaster reduction and other international agreements and charters.
