SWAPNO project for sustainable employment through skill development in leather sector

Strengthening Women’s Ability for Productive New Opportunities (SWAPNO) project by UNDP in collaboration with Centre of Excellence for Leather Skill Bangladesh Limited (COEL) is currently implementing a Pre-Job Orientation Program for the project beneficiaries in Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha and Jamalpur district, according to a press release.

The objective of this initiative is to orient poor and disadvantaged women of the benefits and job opportunities in the Bangladesh leather sector and the employment possibilities after relevant skill development training, the COEL said in a press release

The initiative promotes employment, and most importantly future employability, of extremely poor rural women and is planning to host 30 orientation programs to orient 600 to 800 of them to encourage to enrol for skill development training programs to take the employment opportunities in the leather sector, said the press release.. 

The leather goods and footwear sector have fully compliant work environment ensuring occupational health and safety for all workers. 

At the end of the program the participants will be aware of details about vocational training, training environment, and facilities will come to know the result of the vocational training and employment scopes and opportunities, the press release added.
