The United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) featured as ‘partner of the month’, a2i’s ‘South-South Network for Public Service Innovation (SSN4PSI)’ on its knowledge-sharing platform, South-South Galaxy.
“We in the UNOSSC are supporting the ideas of SSN4PSI to harness innovations in the area of public service delivery and to help countries in the Global South achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” said Jorge Chediek, UNOSSC director and the Envoy of the UN Secretary-General on South-South Cooperation.
The decision to feature SSN4PSI for the month of January was taken after it shared the highest number of best practices/solutions on South-South Galaxy.
SSN4PSI was jointly launched by the Government of Bangladesh and UNOSSC Regional Office for Asia & Pacific in Bangkok through a2i, supported by the Cabinet Division and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh, during the 2017 Global South-South Development Expo in Turkey’s Antalya.
It aims to effectively promote policy-level interventions and to drive partnership based cooperation in Civil Service Capacity Development, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Inclusive Digital Financial Services & Fintech, Data Innovations to Achieve SDGs, Public Awareness and so on.
The SSN4PSI provides a platform to collaborate and share knowledge, experiences and expertise amongst relevant stakeholders, developing countries of the Global South, on effective Governance and Public Service Delivery to assist each other in achieving the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
As one of UNDP Bangladesh’s major projects, a2i is working to implement the Government of Bangladesh’s ‘Digital Bangladesh’ agenda and to help steer the country towards Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Having made significant progress in transforming governance, reforming policy and fostering innovation to achieve its e-Governance Master plan and build an inclusive society, a2i has taken on the initiative of SSN4PSI to transfer knowledge, data, expertise and good practices as contributor to global sustainability.
At GSSD Expo 2018, Achim Steiner, Administrator of the UNDP praised contribution of a2i in public service innovation and South-South Cooperation. The milestone of being selected as a partner of the month reflects the contribution of SSN4PSI as well.
