Training, covid-19 zone wise Burial Management Team

The death count from Covid-19 is increasing, while people are facing more and more hurdles in burying their loved ones with proper safety measures. In an attempt to ease this burden, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) partnered with Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and Al-Markazul Islami for burial management in a safe manner.

Under this initiative, Al-Markazul Islami has been conducting series of training sessions across the country in association with city corporations and forming zone wise Burial Management Team (BMT), they will be given the necessary protective equipment alongside other materials to carry out burials properly. The burial management team will ensure proper funerals for those who passed away from Covid-19. The training covers every step of the burial management process, so that the attendees can take up this noble deed to help the locals.

Executive member of Al-Markazul Islami, Mufti Zubayer Hossain said, “This training will be conducted in ten city corporations and red zones of the country. It will hopefully be expanded gradually.”

About this initiative UNDP’s Assistant Resident Representative, Khurshid Alam said, "Every person has the right to a dignified burial. In this context, Al-Markazul Islam's role is not only commendable but also serves as a unique example of taking social responsibility amid a crisis. Through UNDP's support, the organisation can now expand its services in multiple regions. I wish them the very best."

As part of this ongoing initiative, Al Markazul Islami conducted two training sessions on July 6-7 at Kishoreganj district and Mymensingh City Corporation where Islamic scholars were present along with others.
